How to Add Bookmarks to Your Blogger Blog: Save, Sort and Manage Posts

Let readers bookmark posts on your Blogger blog, then sort and manage their saved list. Built into the Areeb theme, no login needed.

  • Readers often find a post they want to come back to, but not right now. The Areeb theme has a bookmark tool built in: one tap saves the post, and a counter on the side bar leads to a page with everything they saved. No sign-in, no extra plugin, nothing to install.

    Set it up once

The save button and the counter work on their own. The saved list needs one empty page at the address /p/bookmark.html.

    1. New pageIn Blogger, go to Pages › New page.
    2. Title it bookmarkType bookmark as the title. Blogger builds the address from the title, so the page becomes /p/bookmark.html. Leave the body empty; the theme fills it.
    3. PublishClick Publish. After that you can rename the title to anything, for example Saved posts. The address stays the same.

The address must be exactly /p/bookmark.html. If Blogger gives it another name (like bookmark_28.html), delete the page and create it again with the title bookmark.

    Save a post

Under every post title, next to the share icon, is the bookmark button.

The bookmark button sits next to share, under the title.

Tap it and the post is saved. The icon fills in and a short Successfully added. message appears.

Filled bookmark icon and the Successfully added message
Saved: the icon fills and a confirmation pops up.

Tap the same button again to remove the post from the list. The message then says Removed. The button works with the keyboard too: focus it with Tab and press Enter.

    Open the saved list

The bookmark icon on the side bar (at the bottom of the screen on phones) shows a red number: how many posts are saved. It updates right away, even in other open tabs of your blog.

Tap it to open the saved page. Each post shows as a card with its image, category, title and when it was saved.

When nothing is saved yet, the page shows a small empty face instead of cards.

    Sort and delete

    Sort

The menu on the left of the toolbar changes the order:

    • Date added. newest saves first (default).
    • Labels groups posts by category, A to Z.

    Two ways to sort.

    Delete several at once

    1. ManageClick Manage on the right of the toolbar. A checkbox appears on every card.
    2. Pick postsTick the posts you want to remove. The toolbar counts them, for example 1 of 3. The box on the left of the counter selects all.
    3. DeleteClick Delete. The cards disappear and the counter on the side bar goes down. Click Cancel to leave without changes.
Manage mode with one card ticked and the Delete button
    Manage mode: tick, then Delete.

Delete has no undo. To get a post back, open it and tap the bookmark button again.

    Where bookmarks are stored

Bookmarks live in the reader's own browser, not on Blogger and not on any server. The theme keeps the list in the browser's built-in database (IndexedDB) and the number for the counter in local storage.

    • Private: you, as the blog owner, can't see what readers save, and nobody else can.
    • No account or sign-in needed.
    • Instant: no page reloads, no requests to a server.
    • Saved on one browser and one device only; the phone and the laptop each keep their own list.
    • Clearing site data or browsing history empties the list.
    • In a private or incognito window the list is gone when the window closes.

If you want readers to know this, add a line to your privacy page, for example:

Saved posts are stored only in your browser on this device. We don't collect or see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
