How to Add Google Maps to Blogger Posts

Embed Google Maps in Blogger posts that load fast and stay responsive. Click-to-load map, no layout shift, copy-paste HTML.

  • Blogger now lets you add a Google Maps place card to a post: a place's name, photos, rating and a link to directions. It's great for travel posts, reviews, and event pages. The theme makes the card fit your post and keeps your page fast.

    How to add a map

    1. Open the Google menuIn the post editor, click the G button in the toolbar.
    2. Choose Insert Google MapsPick Insert Google Maps mini app.
    3. Find the placeSearch for the place and select it. Blogger adds the card to your post.

    You don't need to change any code. The theme styles every map you add this way, including maps in posts you already published.

    Why readers see a button first

    The map card loads the full Google Maps library, which is heavy for a phone. So the theme shows a light card with two buttons instead:

    • Show map loads the place card right there in the post.
    • Open in Google Maps opens the place in the Maps app or website.

    Readers who don't need the map never download it, and your post stays fast. Try the button above.

    Load a map straight away

    If the map is the main point of the post, you can show it without the button. Switch to HTML view and add live to the separator around the map:

    <div class="separator live" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
      <iframe class="BLOG_object_iframe" ...></iframe>
    </div>

    Use live only for one map near the top of a post. Several live maps slow the page down, especially on phones.

    What the theme changes

    Blogger's defaultWith the theme
    Fixed 400 × 600 frameFull post width, height fits the screen
    Square cornersRounded corners like the rest of the post
    Map library loads on scrollLoads only after a click (or at once with live)
    Empty space while loadingSoft placeholder color

    The card follows the reader's light or dark mode, like the theme. What's inside the card, such as photos, text and buttons, comes from Google and can't be restyled.
